Rice & Rescue: Prevent Child Trafficking

Mission Trip to Chiang Kham, Thailand

We arrived in Mae Sai, right by the border to Myanmar (Burma) Tuesday afternoon, after an incredible week at Home of Blessing in Chiang Kham.

It’s incredibly difficult to capture in words how awesome the last week has been. Home of Blessing has 86 girls from primary school age through high school age.  The life of God that pours out of the girls is beautiful.

The first couple days while the girls were at school we worked hard in the rice fields, and in the evenings we had lots of games and activities with our groups. On Saturday, all the girls joined us for a fantastic day of singing, laughing and visiting as we planted rice for most of the day.  Definitely a memorable day, so fun with everyone together.

Saturday night, we shared testimonies, performed a dance that we made up and rehearsed to Toby Mac’s “Me Without You”, then we had a big worship dance party!  So great! Sunday worship service at Home of Blessing was powerful.  The girls have a terrific praise and worship team, many girls shared testimonies, we also shared some, then we shared a message.

That afternoon the team went out for a while to a national park with a huge waterfall.  We had rejuvenating worship and team time. That night each group made up a 30 second “stomp” dance and all groups came together and performed the dances.

On Monday, we went to the high school that the Home of Blessing girls attend.  We visited with the administration, split into groups of 3 and taught English in the foreign language department classes, and had lunch with the girls. That evening we had special group time, taking pictures and exchanging gifts.  Then everybody danced together to a few dance worship songs, and we ended the night together with prayer.

On Tuesday morning we had our final early morning worship time with the girls.  After they went to school, we had our last Bible study and prayer with Pastor Sayan. We took a bus to Chiang Rai then another to the northernmost point of Thailand, Mae Sai , at the border to Myanmar (Burma).

Ministry in Thailand is very relationship-based.  God seems to help us develop strong relationships quickly with His love as the foundation, which is important since sometimes we’re only with a group for a short period of time.

Here’s how you can help:
Real Impact Missions supports Home of Blessing year-round, especially with the cost of sending girls to school. It costs $330 to send one girl to school for 6 months.Click here to donate! (Choose RIM Project button and then Thailand Orphanagefrom the dropdown menu.)

Many of these girls come from families where a sibling has already been sold to traffickers. Their stay at Home of Blessing PREVENTS this from happening to them. Our ability to send them to school opens wide the door out of poverty and risk for trafficking and into opportunity. In addition, the discipleship provided by Home of Blessing staff and RIM teams helps the girls meet Jesus and grow in Him. Gifts of any amount are appreciated!! Also, if desired, email us atGoInfo@reallimpact.com to ask how you can sponsor a specific child!!
